A Little Perspective on the Glen-L Family...

Dear {FIRST_NAME [Subscriber]},

It dawned on me recently that I have been sending out all these emails representing Glen-L boat plans, patterns & kits and you are probably wondering who the heck I am.

Many of you who have been with us for a while know me and we have either talked on the phone or corresponded by email. For those of you new to Glen-L, I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Gayle Brantuk and I am the Vice President of Glen-L and in charge of marketing and advertising, but more important to me is that I'm Glen's daughter.

I've been part of the Glen-L team for about 28 years. However, this business has been part of my life since I can remember--at least 39 years (*wink).

I've been married 20 years to my loving husband, John, and we live in San Clemente, California. John joined the Glen-L team in 2007 when my brother Barry retired, so we now have the pleasure of working together.

John keeps the Website updated and Gallery photos added, answers the phone, oversees the Forum and is the purchaser for our shipping supplies.

We have 3 children. Jaclyn, 37 is married and lives in Seattle, WA with her husband Denis and runs her own online business. They recently blessed us with a Granddaughter, Lennon Faye who just turned 1 in March.

John II, 33 is a retired Air Force Captain and is currently deciding what his next career will be. He is married to Kim who is an RN and they currently live in Whittier, California. And Ryan passed away at age 11 and lives with his Creator. Oh yes, we also have an 11-year old Chocolate Lab named Buckshot--he's my baby (literally!)

When I was a little girl, I would sit next to dad in his big easy chair in the den on Sundays and help him open all the mail that would come in with orders. We got lots of quarters back then when the catalog was just 50 cents.

As I got a little older, I would come to the office a couple of hours at a time and stuff catalogs, collate instructions or package fastening kits. Back then, we didn't have nearly as many designs, so we sold larger quantities of each plan and fastening kit and kept our shelves stocked with kits pre-assembled.

So much has changed since then. The majority of our orders come through our online store and since our entire catalog is online, most prefer to view it this way.

We now have around 300 different designs, so we assemble our kits as they are ordered. Dad has been handing the reins of the company over to my brother Barry & I for quite a few years.

Then in March of 2008, Barry retired (yes, he's that age!) and has since moved to Oregon. So, the day-to-day responsibility of the business is now up to me and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Dad still comes in to the office a couple of hours a day and continues to contribute to the business in many wonderful ways..

One thing hasn't changed though and that's why we're here. Our goal is to provide the tools for you to realize your dreams and create memories to last a lifetime. That's what it's really about.

Sure, we provide great plans, patterns, kits and supplies to build a boat, but ultimately it's all about what happens on your end. You make it happen by using our products to create that boat you have always wanted and then the fun with friends and family when you take it out on the water.

That's the great part about our business--we get to be a part of your lives and that makes it all worth it... and we hope to continue to be here for you for a long time.

I hope that provides a little perspective into the emails we send and I do hope that you enjoy them. I try to send out information that is useful and will keep you motivated to pursue your goal or dream of owning a boat.

As always, I appreciate your feedback and suggestions so we can better serve you. Until next time...

Happy Boatbuilding,

Gayle Brantuk
