New Glen-L Website Is Live!

Posted by Gayle Brantuk on Jul 22nd 2011

Change isn't always easy, but we hope the new and updated Glen-L website will be worth it. Our website had become very large and cumbersome with thousands of pages. Pete Mitchell of Big Guns Marketing, LLC has taken our old site and put it into a more concise, user-friendly format. We're very pleased with what Pete's done and I just wanted to point out a couple of things about the new site. First, keep in mind that it is still evolving. As mentioned, we have around 5,000 pages on our site and currently just the "top level" pages are in the new format. Those are the pages that show on our home page. Links that are within those pages will still pop up in the old format. Eventually, we will move them all over to the new site. There are a couple of new changes that we're really excited about. On the old site, we had a "Project Registry" which was where we listed all of those builders who had contacted us and submitted their boatbuilding project to be "registered". This section was created many years ago and could be considered  a pre-historic blog. The builder would email us with details about his project and we would post that. Then, he would add updates along the way, all of which we would add on our end. It's an awesome resource and we still have the old "Project Registry Archives" linked at the top of this page if you place your mouse pointer over "Boatbuilder's Blog", you'll see the link. Going forward, we now have an entire blog system so that you can set up your very own building blog! This will be so much nicer for you to be able to immediately post your own photos and comments. I can just feel some of you who think you are computer illiterate start to freak out! Pete has made it easy by creating step-by-step videos to show you exactly what you need to do and I'm certain even internet newbies will be able to understand. Heck, you figured out how to build a boat! Setting up a blog is a whole lot easier! The videos are to the right of this article under the topic "Boatbuilder's Blog". Click on #3, 4 & 5 for the videos. I recommend that you watch each one and then do what it says. Each is only a couple of minutes long so it won't take a lot of your time. Our Customer Photos section is now called "Boatbuilding Galleries". Again, they are still in the process of being uploaded so not everything's there yet. You can still get to the "Customer Photos Archives"  by hovering your mouse over the link at the top of this page for "Boatbuilding Galleries". Once all the photos have been uploaded, then the captions will be added. It all takes time... I hope you'll register with our new site and start your own blog and gallery--we're anxious to find out what you think. I went through each of Pete's videos to make sure I could understand the process. Then I and registered, updated my profile, created a gallery and uploaded photos and even entered a test blog post and it took me about 10 minutes! If you sent us photos before and already have a gallery on the new site and would like to add to it you can. Just send us an email and we'll make it so! Leave us some comments and let us know what you think, okay? Enjoy... Gayle
