A few explanatory notes:

Hull design : I could not find locally and in EU C Flex ,so I have decided to replaced it with 3 layers of mat 450 gr/m2 and one layer of woven roving 600 g/m2,compensating C Flex thickness of 3,17 mm.( See David Gerr book boat strength).

So I have changed the form building. I have covered the matrix with expanded PVC - PVC sheets with thickness 4 mm, easy to bent and taking nicely the hull form as you can see on the picture. Then was very easy to remove it. Finally, obtained hull thickness is as required by the LR Rules and project instructions. Polyester resin was used.

Second major change is the stern. I have decided to do it as a trawler stern, overhanging, not changing the WL length. Now I have an enormous cockpit, very well for the Bulgarian sun and hot climate.

The hull after fairing looks like a hull from the female matrix at least the sides. It took me too much time.

The wood involved in the boat is only mahogany marine type as meranti, sipo and sapelle. The wood is encapsulated. The plywood is a marine type certified by RINA deck is OKUME, marine grade, encapsulated with polyester resin. After a flex teak deck will be fitted (this artificial teak).

The deck and superstructure will be encapsulated with mat and fabric as per project but I will use venilester resin.

The other change I have made to the project is that I have omitted the raised forecastle deck as you can see on the picture.

The engine is Volvo Penta 28 hp as per project. I am intending to insulate the ER with first class marine noise insulation.

Mast and boom is Z spare, aluminum, brand new, complying with project requirements. Sails are available.

Superstructure windows are aluminum, marine type, imported from Turkey, Boffort.

Ballast is lead; I had a problem I could not fit the lead blocks to the required height, but I will look at the problem after launching, I am intending to carry out an inclining experiment. Maybe I have to fit about 120 kg aft frame 3.

Anchor windlass will be fitted on the forecastle deck.

Do not ask me about the launching date, but I am expecting to do this job sometime in September??

After completion of sea trials I will send you all performance data. I believe that this boat will be the best motor sailor in the Black Sea area!

Navigation equipment will be Garmin, not so complicated; only VHF, echo sounder combined with chart plotter and AIS compass. Hydraulic steering gear Hydroflex is ready to be fit.

In case you are interested I may keep you informed about building and will send more pictures. If you wish so you may publish and comment the story/pictures in your site. Next time I will send picture about turning of the boat.

    I am from Varna ,Bulgaria,I am also building Kodiak,I am at stage deck and outfitting,
    Your boat look excellent,please device how the boat is performing under sails and under engine,in rough sea and every thing you can share from your experience
