My name is Alan Close and live in Logan, (halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast) Queensland, Australia. I originally bought the Monaco plans in 1997 but only started the build in May 2008. The frame timber is Hoop Pine and is planked in 4mm Hoop Pine ply. The bright timber is Red Mahogany, a local eucalypt (Eucalyptus resinifera). The boat is being powered by a Toyota Lexus 4 Litre V8 driving through a Borg Warner 71C velvet drive.

Hi Again,
Here's some photos of the Monaco, finished similar to the Riviera already displayed on your photo board #1. Being the second one I built, it came out a little nicer (my opinion) that the first. It also has the MreCruiser 350 MAG MPI (315 HP) engine and almost reaches 50 mph. Each boat took about 10 months full time (I'm slow) and the raw materials cost about 19K$. I have plenty intermediate photos if anyone would be interested in seeing them.
Nothing in the works for now.. I'm going to display both boats at the Norwalk, CT Boat Show with the hope of stimulating some interest in building similar boats for interested buyers.
